Roundup’s new hit product for 2008 is helping the brand begin the season with record results.
The launch of Pump ‘N Go was a primary factor in Roundup’s best-ever sales month (based on shipments), passing the $60 million mark in March for the first time in the brand’s history. Strong consumer acceptance is also ensuring those products are leaving our retail partners’ shelves.
Tim McNamara, Roundup marketing director, noted that the brand’s point of sales (POS) performance is up fifteen percent over March last year in the early season markets, despite weather in March that was less than ideal and far worse than March 2007, and with the Easter holiday coming in March (which historically slows POS).
“Pump N Go is a key component of our success, but it’s actually greater than that. We had a break with the weather in the early regions [Florida, Texas and other southern states] and we were able to capitalize on this,” Tim said.
He added that before the season even began Roundup team members worked with their colleagues in sales to lock up retail space earlier than ever before. Our new-look Roundup advertising, focusing on Pump ‘N Go, also broke at the end of the month.

Dan Gittere, Roundup customer marketing manager, added that the widespread use of newly developed kits by our in-the-field Sales team helped drive results by ensuring highly visible displays couldn’t be missed during big weekends.
“Another key component of our success has been working with our Business Development Teams to ensure that they have what they need for their customers to ensure Roundup’s success. That includes end-cap point-of-purchase materials and some exclusive products our customers can really get excited about,” said Sara Metzger, assistant brand manager, Roundup.
